What is Long-Term Care Advance Planning?
Long-Term Care Advance Planning is a review a Senior's assets, life situation, and care needs in advance of the need for care, and making a wholistic plan to address each situation. Long-Term Care Advance Planning is also evaluating the Senior's situation to see if they may wish to eventually qualify for Medicaid.
Just as no two people are the same, there are no two same Long-Term Care plans that are identical. Each situation is different, and must be well thought out with the use of the combination of traditional estate planning tools, irrevocable trusts, personal care plans, modifications to the home to allow continued stay, planning for additional care resources as we age (and how to pay for the additional resources) and qualification for government paid benefits that may be available. It may also involve the best route to transform your assets with Medicaid qualified annuities, or other financial techniques.
Medicaid eligibility criteria for nursing home long-term care are complex and change frequently. An improperly filed application may result in denial of benefits.
