Where can I file a Declaration of Domestic Partnership?

Where can I file a Declaration of Domestic Partnership?

Shawn C. Newman

Congratulations to you and your domestic partner on deciding to make this public declaration of your relationship.

Not every county in Florida offers couples the ability to file a Declaration of Domestic Partnership, but the first place to start is the website for the County where you reside.  Please note that each county has a different Declaration of Domestic Partnership form, and they are not all the same.

Here are the websites for the three counties that are closest to me in South Florida:

Broward:  WEBSITE    FORM

Broward County Records, Taxes and Treasury Division
Governmental Center Room 114
115 S. Andrews Ave.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301

(954) 831-4000

Palm Beach:    WEBSITE     FORM

 Recording Department

205 North Dixie Highway

Room 4.2500

West Palm Beach, FL 33402

(561) 355-6214

Miami-Dade:   WEBSITE    FORM

Domestic Partnership Registration  Registration - Office of Consumer Protection

601 NW 1st Court

18th Floor

Miami, FL 33136

(786) 469-2300

Remember, the Declaration of Domestic Partnership you would file with the county where you reside is a public record.  Please remember that once you have filed this document, anyone can see it.  You should read the forms carefully to ensure they comply with your wishes and meet the requirements. However, if you prefer your relationship to be more private, you should not file a Declaration of Domestic Partnership with the county.
